In Memoriam: Jack Wall

Our dear friend and colleague, John Edward (Jack) Wall, Esq. passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016.  Mr. Wall was a leader of Dickie McCamey, where he spent his entire professional life, and served on the firm’s Executive Committee for many years.

Mr. Wall joined the firm at the age of 27 in 1973, after having earned his law education attending night school for four years while teaching at a parochial school during the day.

Mr. Wall was regarded as an exceptional trial lawyer, having earned numerous trial successes in civil litigation. He was a prominent railroad and product liability attorney representing some of the largest railroads and manufacturers in the country. Mr. Wall’s achievements earned him an invitation into the premier legal association, American College of Trial Lawyers, and the election into membership of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County.

Mr. Wall was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute (“PDI”) and served as the organization’s President in 1989–1990. In 1996, he was the recipient of the PDI Defense Lawyer of the Year Award. In 2012, he was nominated by a colleague for his “unfailing devotion to the art of trial advocacy on behalf of defendants in civil litigation” and was presented the Distinguished Defense Counsel Lifetime Achievement Award from the PDI.

Jack Wall is known for so many contributions to the profession and firm, but the mentoring of young lawyers was his gift and passion. The influence Jack has had upon the young lawyers he’s worked with is priceless.

Always the gentleman, we mourn the loss of our friend Jack Wall. As we celebrate his leadership and accomplishments, we also honor his memory.
