Attorney Kristin Wedell Obtains Labor and Employment Specialist Certification

Kristin L. Wedell has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) as a specialist in labor and employment. This certification makes Ms. Wedell one of a small group of attorneys in Ohio to have earned this distinction. She is one among 23 attorneys newly certified, which composes a total of 703 OSBA Certified Attorneys in all of the different specialist areas. She is one of only two attorneys certified in labor and employment this year.

“I chose to earn a specialty certification to further serve my current and future clients,” said Ms. Wedell. “I am pleased to have pursued this opportunity and the challenge in strengthening my labor and employment practice skills. I am looking forward to applying my new expertise.”

Ms. Wedell has 20 years of legal experience, concentrating in the areas of business and employment law, civil rights, workers’ compensation, and product liability. She has earned first chair trial successes and has served as national counsel for large international corporations. Ms. Wedell was selected for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Leadership Academy in 2017 and has been recognized multiple years on the Ohio Super Lawyers® – Rising Stars list.

Ms. Wedell earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology, magna cum laude, at the University of Toledo. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and is licensed to practice in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

For an attorney to earn a specialty certification, they must:

  • demonstrate substantial and continuing involvement in a particular field of law
  • submit references from other lawyers attesting to their competency in the specialty area
  • attend intermediate or advanced continuing legal education courses in the specialty area in addition to the courses required of all attorneys
  • remain in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
  • maintain a minimum professional liability insurance coverage, and
  • pass a written examination in the specialty area

Attorneys who have earned a specialty certification must be re-certified at least every four to seven years and must report annually to the certifying agency.
