Gabrielle Carbonara Honored with NLS Pro Bono Champion Award

Pittsburgh has long congratulated itself on being The City of Champions. On April 10, 2025, the region recognized its champions of the legal profession.

Dickie McCamey Shareholder Gabrielle M. Carbonara accepted a Pro Bono Champion Award during the inaugural Neighborhood Legal Services (“NLS”) Champions of Justice Pro Bono Awards luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown.

Ms. Carbonara earned this recognition for her work with NLS on the Landlord/Tenant Brief Advice Project. As a longtime supporter of the initiative, she has not only provided legal advice to over 47 NLS clients but she has also recruited and mentored a team of colleagues at Dickie McCamey.

“I handle pro bono work because I believe everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status, should have access to effective legal assistance,” Carbonara said. “I’m fortunate to be in a position to provide these services and give back to our community in Allegheny County.”

For more than half a century, NLS has offered low-income residents in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania, “a much better chance of keeping their homes, securing their veteran’s benefits, protecting themselves and their children, and more by giving them access to the same or better legal advice than those they oppose.” Through NLS, Pittsburgh’s attorneys have been a vital safety net for communities, breaking barriers, lifting families out of poverty, and protecting the most vulnerable.

Carbonara is a member of the firm’s Energy Group and Real Estate Group in addition to being an active member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. No stranger to honors for her commitment to pro bono work, she was honored with the David B. Fawcett Pro Bono Award in 2020.
