Michael Ballance Chosen by Law Schools to Assist in NC Bar Exam Transition
Michael W. Ballance, shareholder of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C., has been appointed by the deans of both The University of North Carolina (“UNC”) School of Law at Chapel Hill and the Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh to represent the schools in the state’s transition to adopting the Uniform Bar Exam. Mr. Ballance is one of five lawyers in North Carolina chosen to develop a required course of study and examination on North Carolina’s workers’ compensation law. The exam must be passed before an applicant may sit for the North Carolina Bar Exam.
Mr. Ballance will also be a presenter in the online video course, which will be viewed by all new lawyers in North Carolina. He is Shareholder-In-Charge of Dickie McCamey’s Raleigh, North Carolina, office and also serves as an Adjunct Professor at UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill and Campbell Law School in Raleigh, where he teaches Workers’ Compensation Law and Practice.
Mr. Ballance’s legal experience spans two decades with his practice concentrated in the areas of administrative law, appellate practice, employment law, and workers’ compensation. He earned his J.D. at The University of North Carolina School of Law, with honors, and his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from North Carolina State University.
